Hyperthermic Ozone Therapy

Hyperthermia is the increase of body temperature like a fever when you’re sick. The fever is the body’s way of signaling that the immune system is fighting an invading pathogen. What happens when you induce a “fever” when you’re not sick and introduce ozone which stimulates multiple immune responses?

To answer that we need to discuss briefly some facts about ozone. Ozone is an oxygen molecule configuration which is unstable and reactive. When you breathe ozone it’s irritating if not damaging to the mucous membranes in the lungs. Ozone gas requires the presence of water or oil in therapeutic use because its a very dry gas. The best way to get a therapeutic level of ozone in a systemic exposure through the skin is to use an ozone steam chamber.

When ozone interacts with bacteria it literally blows holes through their outer membranes. Ozone deactivates viruses, strips biofilm off parasites and candida, kills unhealthy human cells and boosts the mitochondrial output of healthy ones. Ozone gas is an immune modulator which means that it can stimulate certain parts of the immune system that we want and suppress the parts we don’t want. Ozone gas doesn’t exactly “know” what to do but the immune system does based on your inherent blue print, your DNA. Ozone simply put helps the body to regain is original memory of what it should be doing.

When ozone is introduced into the skin through a steam chamber it penetrates into the skin, fat, ligaments, tendons, joints, muscles and peripheral blood vessels. Ozone is an oxidant that stimulates ROS, Reactive Oxidative Species and that stimulation makes the body do all kinds of things. A little stimulation is good and will help the body work better, a lot will cause harm. Its important to know the right amount of ozone to use so you should seek out a professional who’s trained in ozone if you’re looking for therapeutic ozone applications. The oxidative effects of ozone can be very helpful in detoxification because ozone really doesn’t like synthetic chemicals. The best way to describe this is by using a visual demonstration of filling a nitrile glove with ozone gas, the material begins to disintegrate very quickly. A latex glove will fall apart long before the glove even fills up. You get the idea, ozone burns up toxins and thats a very good thing when you’re trying to detox chemicals from your body.

Ozone steam chambers (saunas) are in my opinion far superior to infrared saunas, but they are more complicated. Ozone saunas are filled with steam and ozone gas, your head stays outside the sauna so you don’t breathe in the gas. The steam acts in two ways, it opens your pores so you sweat out toxins and it allows for maximum ozone absorption into the tissues. Ozone saunas are usually done as 100-105*F not nearly as hot as infrared but you sweat so much more. I’ve seen black spots on peoples towels when they get out of the sauna from their body detoxing so much.

I like that your head isn’t inside the chamber because its a lot more comfortable to breathe cool air while your body temperature is increasing. Elevating body temperature simulates a fever as I mentioned in the first paragraph. This tells the immune system “hey, its time to get to work”! What’s really interesting is how many times I’ve been told by people with cancer or multiple sclerosis that they have a very hard time sweating, they just don’t sweat or they noticed they stopped sweating right before their diagnosis. When they use the ozone sauna they sweat during and after the sauna but when they use infrared they don’t sweat at all.

People who workout LOVE ozone saunas, they recover faster from their workouts, they feel more energy, their endurance increases and they may be decreasing the risk of injury by increasing the oxygen levels in the tissue. I have to say may because I try to write everything based on valid studies even though I don’t list references in my posts.

Ozone saunas aren’t super common although some integrative medical centers have them so if you are interested in the treatment you should run a Google search for a clinic near you. They’re kinda pricy to purchase ($12K+) but they are something that a person can use in their own home. If you do purchase an ozone sauna to use at home please make sure you get some kind of training because you don’t want to hurt yourself. Ozone can damage electronics, kill houseplants and irritate your pets lungs so do your research.

When I owned my own clinic it was an invaluable tool for us and since we had 20 years of experience with it, I based some of ozonecharged.com’s products on its principles. Ozone Muscle Rub is a way to get ozone into the same tissues albeit its not nearly as potent, but it can be used every single day which the sauna can’t (shouldn’t) even if you had one at home. Ozone Skin Salve has similar healing effects to the sauna for skin abrasions, bruising, cuts, burns and certain minor infections. Ozone Lotion is moisturizing and has some potential anti microbial effects, I haven’t been able to do bacterial cultures before and after application as of yet but as soon as I do I’ll post about it.
