Ozone Therapy and Diabetes

The Diabetes Epidemic in the USA

One in 10 adults have diabetes in the USA, that’s roughly 38.4 million people. Of that huge figure, 8.7 million of them are undiagnosed. There are roughly 97.6 million more people that have prediabetes. That’s almost 40% of the entire US population!

What Happens in the Body of a Diabetic?

What happens when a person is a diabetic? Their body is no longer able to use insulin properly. Their blood sugar levels are consistently elevated. They feel an increase in thirst, hunger, fatigue, they begin to have blurred vision, slow healing of wounds, numbness in the hands and feet and frequent urination. Their immune system doesn’t work as well as it should so they’re prone to infections and delayed healing. The increased blood sugar levels cause damage not only to their immune system but to their blood vessels, nerves, eyes and kidneys.

The Role of Medical Doctors and Integrative Specialists

If it isn’t obvious, diabetics should be treated by a Medical Doctor who can prescribe medications if needed, uncontrolled diabetes can be extremely dangerous. However, most physicians have no idea how to use Ozone Therapy and so it’s up to the patient to find a qualified Integrative Specialist. Proper diet, exercise and lifestyle changes are absolutely required for optimal health so guidance is a necessity. It is possible to reverse diabetes, it takes work and discipline but it can be done. Ozone is a significant part of the treatment process, its also vital to healing the damage once the condition is under control.

Benefits of Ozone Therapy for Diabetics

Ozone therapy can have multiple benefits to diabetic individuals. It can improve blood sugar control, reduce oxidative stress, decrease inflammation, enhance circulation and tissue oxygenation, support nerve repair, improve wound healing and immune function. Using Major AutoHemo Therapy (MAH) with Ozone, Ozone Saunas and topical Ozone Charged products like Ozone Skin Salve and Ozone Muscle Rub are super important.

Options for Systemic Oxygenation

First, treating the blood directly with ozone is going to be extremely helpful but if AutoHemo Therapy isn’t an option, Rectal Insufflation (RI) can be utilized. RI’s can be done daily (short term) if needed, they’re also cost effective. Whereas MAH can only be done 2-3 times a week for a short time unless you have unlimited financial resources. The important thing to keep in mind is that systemic oxygenation is vital and treatments will be an ongoing process.

Addressing Neuropathy with Ozone Saunas and Muscle Rub

Ozone saunas & Ozone Muscle Rub are super helpful in delivering ozone directly while improving circulation to the peripheral nerves that begin to die (neuropathy) in the hands and feet. At first neuropathy just feels like a little bit of pins and needles, kind of like your foot or hand fell asleep but it gets worse. Eventually the pins and needles feeling spreads and intensify’s but over time it begins to fade and numbness takes over. This is very bad, because at this point the nerves are severely damaged. Ozone Muscle Rub contains ozonized magnesium which is fantastic vasodilator that increases blood flow to these areas. It can also be used many times a day to maintain that blood flow and in a lot of cases it temporarily decreases some of the discomfort.

Ozone Skin Salve for Wounds and Immune Support

Ozone Skin Salve can be used on the areas of neuropathy as well, but it works extremely well on cuts, scrapes, burns, bruises and small wounds. The slow response from the immune system delays healing and leaves these areas vulnerable to infection. Ozone Skin Salve can increase micro circulation, act as a protective barrier and has anti microbial potential. I would certainly suggest using Ozone Soap to clean the areas regularly before applying the salve. In other posts I describe how Ozone bagging can be used for diabetic ulcers or infections and Ozone Oils can be used topically so i encourage you to read my other posts as well.

Consistency Is Key with Ozone

Ozone is not a magic silver bullet that works immediately like a drug. Ozone treatments will take time to work and Ozone Charged products should be used daily. The results may take some time but consistency and frequency are the keys to success. Once you start feeling better, don’t stop! So many people think, I don’t hurt anymore so I don’t need to keep using the product. Decreasing how much or how often is fine, but don’t stop. The results you’ve gained need to be maintained and your body is now accustomed to having support. It won’t need as much support as it did when things were at their worst but we’re all getting older and as we do our body needs more assistance to keep working as best as it can.

Ozone and Bruising

What Happens When We Get a Bruise?

What happens when we get a bruise or what’s known as Ecchymosis? A bruise is the result of blood vessels under the skin rupturing from an injury. The discoloration is from blood that collects under the skin. Depending on how bad the injury is and how deep it goes, bruising can sometimes take a few days to appear and can be brown, black or purple in color. If a large enough vessel is damaged a large hematoma (blood filled area) can appear before discoloration is seen. Bruising can last for a couple days to a couple weeks depending on severity and location. Areas where there is limited blood flow is where bruising will take the longest to go away.

Age and Fragility of Blood Vessels

Superficial bruising directly in the skin or right below is very common as we age due to the blood vessels becoming fragile. This can be called Purpura or Petechiae depending on the size, they look like red or purple spots. Micro capillaries in the epidermis itself can rupture from a gentle bump on an elderly persons hand or arm. This can happen in someone younger too depending on their health and certain medical conditions, especially for those on prescription blood thinners.

Nutritional Support for Healing

Bruises are unsightly and most people want them to go away as fast as possible. What can be done to speed the healing process or perhaps prevent premature fragility of blood vessels? Bioflavonoids like those found in fruits and vegetables like parsley, peppers, brussel sprouts, grapes, berries, plumbs can strengthen blood vessel linings. Other nutrients such as Vitamin C, Vitamin K, bromelain and zinc all play important roles as well. Collagen and Oxygen are vital to the integrity of the vessel walls remain soft and flexible to withstand the impact of minor bumps and scratches. Alcohol and caffeine weaken the vessel walls so avoidance is helpful if you want to act preventatively, best to abstain completely when healing from an injury.

Immediate Injury Response

Immediately when an injury first takes place, you must stop the bleeding. This when its best to use pressure, compressing the area to stop the flow of blood, applying ice packs to help constrict blood vessels and control inflammation. After a day or so then you begin to increase the circulation and flow of oxygen to induce faster healing.

Ozone Therapy for Bruising

Ozone saunas increase both cellular oxygenation as well as circulation directly to the injury. Ozone soap can used to clean the area and Ozone Skin Salve can be applied directly throughout the day. Ozone saunas are great but you can’t do them everyday like to you can with Ozone Charged products. Ozone increases the vascularization of damaged tissues. Even if its applied topically it can increase micro circulatory pathways and heal damaged vessels. Ozone also stimulates growth factors for faster healing. These include Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) Platelet Derived Growth Factor (PDGF) and Transforming Growth Factor – beta (TGF-b).

Clinical Experience and Results

When patients would come into our clinic with bruising we would give them Ozone Skin Salve to use. They would notice significantly increased healing times. After a difficult IV start, blood draw or intramuscular injection we would use Ozone Skin Salve right away and in some cases it would prevent what would’ve been a nasty bruise. Instead they would have little to no noticeable skin discoloration.

Personal Observations and Feedback

I’d often give out small sample containers of Ozone Skin Salve to patients who had Petechiae or Purpura just to see how they would respond. They’d often return to purchase a large jar and with humor they would ask if they could use it on their whole body. Ozone Skin Salve is so versatile and when its used regularly the benefits get better and better. I have found that the elderly in particular benefit tremendously from the increased levels of oxygen in their skin.

Looking to the Future

It was neat to have several thousand people over the last 20 years use our products. I had so much fun making new formulas and giving out samples to get nearly immediate feedback. It was like having a massive test group over a substantial period of time to really see what worked and how well. All too often patients would volunteer to be “guinea pigs” for new formulations. People with specific auto immune conditions would want a custom made product and I was happy to make it for them but it wasn’t feasible to bring it to market on a large scale.

New Products on the Horizon

There will be new Ozone Charged products released in the next few years that we’re currently developing and testing. We’re so excited to be able to share our formulations with everyone on a massive scale now that we have refined our production methods and capabilities. Look for new products coming soon!

Ozone and Candida

The Rise of Candida Infections

Candida infections have become increasingly common with no end in sight. Immuno suppressive drugs for autoimmune disease, corticosteroids and antibiotic use are the three main medical culprits in the rapid spread of medically induced fungal infections. The standard American diet of heavily processed, chemically laden foods filled to the brim with sugar are the lifestyle factor which contributes the fuel needed for a rapid growth rate and weak immune response. An intestinal microbiome that is damaged from diet and medications provides the perfect environment in which to grow.

Recognizing Candida Symptoms

What are the symptoms of a candida fungal infection? Thick white coated (fuzzy) tongue, foggy thinking, poor memory, fatigue, itching, gas, bloating, constipation, vaginal discharge, enlarged prostate and more. The problem is that candida symptoms overlap with parasite infections, heavy metal toxicity, irritable bowel syndrome and others to the point that it may be hard to determine what is really going on.

Challenges in Testing for Candida

In most cases, I have found that its some if not all of the above and you have to test for everything or forgo the expense of testing and just begin treating the issue. The problem with testing is that its not always accurate, for example the blood test for Candida Antibodies isn’t always positive when there are obvious symptoms. I believe this to be an issue with the persons immune system not fighting the infection which would normally create the antibodies to detect. I have seen time and again symptoms resolved by treating the fungus even when testing says there’s nothing wrong.

Candida’s Invasive Nature

Candida is an invasive species of fungus which lives just about everywhere, your skin, intestinal tract, reproductive tract, sinuses and ear canals. The problem is when its growth rate isn’t kept in check by the immune system and other beneficial microbes (good flora). Once it has the ability to spread unchecked it can invade the body and create colonies of fungus. The colonies can root into areas that most physicians say is impossible. I have had so many people tell me, my doctor said this infection isn’t possible or I would be so sick I’d be hospitalized. Well, think again because after going through treatment they felt better than they felt in years!

Direct Ozone Applications for Candida

As I covered in the blog post on Rectal Insufflation with Ozone, Candida can be killed by ozone when it is exposed to ozone gas for a prolonged period of time, no less than 20 minutes. This is why rectal insufflation is of direct benefit to lower GI infections. Vaginal Insufflation with ozone is perfect for women who suffer from vaginal infections. When it comes to the skin, ozone saunas are a direct gas exposure and for specific limbs requiring treatment, ozone bagging is perfect. All provide ozone gas to the candida spores in sufficient time to kill them directly. What about indirect benefits of ozone on candida in other parts of the body?

Systemic Benefits of Ozone Therapy

For systemic candidiasis Major AutoHemo Therapy with ozone is amazingly helpful. Granted that the ozone gas itself isn’t going to have the 20 minute minimum time exposure to the blood, the key here is immune activation. Ozone interacts with the white blood cells during the treatment to energize their activity level. It also has a profound ability to strip biofilms (in most cases) from microbes. Biofilms act as a “cloak of invisibility” for microbes allowing them to travel through the body undetected by immune defenses. Once stripped of biofilms, white blood cells can attack the invaders and create a healthy defense to future infections. This is incredibly important because we want the immune system to do the work, not just the treatments alone. If we rely on the treatments themselves we’ll always be dependent, we want the immune system to be robust to prevent future problems.

Topical Ozone Products

Ozone Soap, Ozone Lotion, Ozone Skin Salve all have benefits to areas of skin infections, however they are somewhat limited in fighting candida directly but they do help and should be used. The nice part about ozone is that it does not kill beneficial bacteria on the skin or within the body so the healthy microbiome that we want stays intact.

Important Dietary Guidelines

When anyone is fighting yeast or fungal infections I always tell them NOT to take probiotics or eat fermented foods until after the infection is cleared. Yeast and fungus FEED on fermentation, kill them first, then re-establish the microbiome with additional pre and probiotics. I have read so many books on fighting candida and most all of them say, take probiotics to help, they’re wrong.

Dealing with Parasites and Heavy Metals

Another key point to remember is that as mentioned in paragraph 2, theres usually multiple problems to include parasites and heavy metals. Kill fungus and parasites together, then detox the heavy metals, because as they die they release more toxins and heavy metals. Always take binders during an anti-fungal, anti-parasitical program to decrease the toxic burden. Make sure your bowels are moving every single day and drink plenty of water to flush your system.

Supporting Therapies and Detox Timeline

Additional therapies such as Intravenous Glutathione, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Sodium Bicarbonate, Vitamin C and B Vitamins are extremely helpful if available. A complete treatment program should include Ozone and nutrient IV’s, Ozone Sauna, Ozone Soap, anti-parasitical/anti fungal herbs or medications, supportive supplements including binders, a diet low in carbohydrates/ sugar, high in protein/fat, regular exercise and colonics or enemas. Each treatment plan will vary in intensity and duration but what’s important to know is that you won’t start feeling a huge difference until 2-3 weeks after the program is complete. This is the normal time it takes to flush all the chemicals from the body.

Heavy Metal Testing and Follow-Up

Follow up this treatment plan with a Heavy Metals Provocation Test using IV Chelation and a minimum 6 hour urine collection. This is the only accurate way to determine heavy metal toxicity and know if you require a series of IV Chelation treatments.

Ozone and Eczema

Understanding Eczema and Dermatitis

Eczema is a general term for dermatitis, which refers to inflammation of the skin. There are several types, including Contact Dermatitis, Seborrheic Dermatitis, Nummular Dermatitis, Atopic Dermatitis, and Stasis Dermatitis. While the types may vary, they all share common symptoms: red, dry, itchy, and often painful skin. Some sufferers may even experience bumps or blisters.

Why Ozone Therapy Makes Sense for Eczema

Ozone has well-documented anti-inflammatory properties, making it a natural option for treating eczema. The therapeutic effects come from increased oxygenation, antimicrobial action, reduction of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and enhanced antioxidant production. One benefit not previously covered is how ozone impacts cytokine activity—let’s explore that next.

Cytokines and Skin Inflammation

Cytokines are signaling proteins that play a crucial role in immune system communication. Some cytokines promote inflammation, while others help reduce it. They influence cell growth, differentiation, and the production of immune and blood cells. In the context of dermatitis, the type and quantity of cytokines determine the severity and progression of inflammation.

Ozone as an Immune Regulator

What sets ozone therapy apart is its ability to regulate the immune response rather than simply boost it. In cases of eczema, boosting the immune system would only worsen the inflammation. Ozone, however, helps immune cells become less reactive and more efficient in communication. This regulation helps reduce overreactions and promotes healing.

A Helpful Analogy

Think of the immune system like a hyper coworker—full of energy but unable to focus. Communication breaks down, and nothing gets done efficiently. Ozone steps in like a calming leader, helping immune cells get organized, focus on the real problem, and respond appropriately without overreacting.

Conventional vs. Holistic Treatments

In integrative medicine, eczema is treated holistically with a combination of topical or oral medications, supplements, herbs, and lifestyle changes. Traditional medical approaches often rely on steroid prescriptions. While these may reduce inflammation quickly, the relief is often short-lived because the root cause isn’t addressed.

The Role of Diet

Diet plays a major role in managing skin conditions. Common dietary triggers include eggs, dairy, sugar, and citrus. In cases like Seborrheic Dermatitis, an overgrowth of a naturally occurring yeast called Malassezia can provoke inflammation. Removing sugar from the diet, even natural sugars like honey and fruit, can help—but antifungal herbs or medications are usually needed as well.

Supporting the Skin Topically

For Seborrheic Dermatitis, using Ozone Soap twice daily can be extremely helpful. It reduces inflammation, keeps skin oils under control, and helps manage yeast overgrowth. Zinc is another powerful topical solution, as it effectively combats Malassezia.

Product Recommendations for Seborrheic Dermatitis

Avoid using Ozone Face Moisturizer or Ozone Skin Salve for Seborrheic Dermatitis due to their higher oil content. Instead, opt for Ozone Skin Lotion, which hydrates the skin with a lower oil concentration. Maintaining a clean skincare routine and a diet that supports immune health are both essential for managing dermatitis.
